Perform tasks involving physical labor at building construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble and debris. May assist other craft workers in their trades.
**Candidates must live within 25 miles to North Platte, NE to be eligible to receive some company benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or masonry structures.
Place, consolidate, and protect cast-in place concrete
Position, join, align, and seal structural components, such as concrete wall section, structural steel, wood framing, etc.
Shovel materials such as but not limited to dirt, concrete, rock, gravel, sand etc.
Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or power trowels.
Spray materials through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns.
Build and position forms for pouring concrete, dismantle forms after use, and clean forms.
Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Dig ditches or trenches, back-fill, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, racks and heavy equipment.
Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters and concrete finishers.
May perform other duties as necessary or required.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other structures.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Safe use of power tools such as saws, drills, planes, sanders, routers, and grinders.
Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 75 pounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
